Who are we?
In loving memory of
Richmond Coffin
Donkeys & Shetlands Last Home was the heartfelt idea of Richmond Coffin, who envisioned the opportunity to open up the sanctuary to the public, allowing everyone to experience and share in the unparalleled love and joy that this special place offers. Tragically, Rich passed away before his beautiful dream could be realized in its entirety. However, his devoted wife, Michelle, wholeheartedly carried on his important work and proudly opened the sanctuary to the public on the 2nd of July, 2021.
Being that this wonderful place is recognized as the final home for our beloved donkeys and Shetlands, we are unfortunately unable to register as a charity since we never engage in rehoming. Instead, we provide love and care for all of our animals for the entirety of their lives, allowing them to live out their retirement years in a safe, nurturing, and quiet environment. We truly rely on the kindness and generosity of public donations to help support our sanctuary and its residents.
To visit our serene sanctuary, we kindly ask adults to pay a small entrance fee of £5 and children up to the age of 16 to pay just £3. This contribution helps us cover the essential costs of accommodating and caring for our cherished animals. Additionally, we have a delightful gift shop located in Rich’s ranch, where visitors can pop in for a hot drink and a delicious slice of cake. We have prices clearly listed inside for your convenience.
If you’re interested, there is also an opportunity to adopt a donkey or a Shetland of your choice, either for yourself or as a thoughtful gift for someone special, for a whole year. When you visit, you can enjoy spending time with and grooming the donkeys and ponies, who are all incredibly friendly and absolutely adore visitors and attention. We even have brushes on site for you to borrow, so you can experience the joy of connecting with these lovely animals.
